This painting bears witness to the technical painting talent that Jan I Brueghel possessed. He is an important link in the history of the art of landscape painting. This work must have been painted around 1610 and shows us a highly refined manner in which to guide the perspective view to the top. For this he uses two colour zones, a brown one followed by a blue one. He depicts a number of his figures with their backs turned to the viewer and allows them to move in the direction of a village in the distance; this treatment further underpins the perspective.
