Francken belonged to an artistic family that had a number of painters. Frans II had primarily applied himself to the painting of art chambers.
In addition to this, he had made religious paintings, such as the Worship of the Golden Calf.
On the foreground the Israelites lay their silver jewels and crockery at the feet of Aaron. Furthermore, they dance around the pillar with the Golden Calf.
Above left, Moses descends from Mount Sinai, in the companionship of Joshua. Disillusioned he smashes the Tablets of the Law.
